Planner
As
in most special occasions, the first thing you need
to do is to set a date. Once you’ve set the date,
use the wedding guide below to help you focus on making
the right decisions, on time
Twelve
Months Before
Set the date for your wedding.
Create a preliminary budget.
Reserve your ceremony and/or reception location.
Determine who will officiate at the ceremony. I.e.
Church or the Justice of Peace or at the Registry
of Marriage (ROM).
Hire a wedding consultant, if you plan to use one.
Decide on your theme.
Start
compiling your guest list.
Send
"Save-the-date" cards to out-of-town guests,
if any.
Select
wedding attendants: bridesmaids, best man and groomsmen.
Plan
the tea ceremony, wedding reception and/or dinner.
Select
your dress and headpiece.
Six
to Four Months Before
Confirm
the official who will be solemnising your marriage.
Shop
for bridesmaids dresses and suits for best man and
groomsmen.
Select
your makeup artist and hairstylist.
Select
a professional photographer and video photographer.
Select
a professional florist.
Arrange
for entertainment.
Order
wedding invitations and personal stationery.
Shop
for wedding rings.
Start
planning the honeymoon.
Select
your bridal accessories such as shoes and jewellery.
Reserve
accommodation for "out-of-town" guests.
Two
Months Before
Address
invitations and announcements. They should be mailed
eight to six weeks before wedding.
Finalise
all details with service providers such as photographers,
entertainers, caterers and florists.
Order
wedding cake.
Make
transportation arrangements for wedding day for your
guests.
Finalise
the honeymoon plans.
One
Month Before
Prepare
necessary fees that need to be paid on the wedding
day, prepare hongbaos for those who need to be paid.
Buy
gifts for your wedding attendants.
Make
sure you have all wedding accessories such as guest
book and candles ready.
Confirm
accommodations for out-of-town attendants or guests.
Make
an appointment for a trial hair and makeup session.
Two
Week Before
Select
rehearsal date and inform your wedding attendants.
Finalise
invitation replies. Ensure all RSVPs are accounted
for.
Start
organising guest seating arrangements.
Make
sure you have the wedding rings, and that they fit
properly.
Have
your bridesmaids luncheon and bachelor/bachelorette
parties.
One
Week Before
Give
a final guest count to the caterer and review details.
Have
a rehearsal with all participants, reviewing their
duties.
Go
over final details with all professional services
you have engaged. Inform them of any changes. Finalise
the seating arrangements.
Start
writing your thank-you notes.
Pack
your suitcase for the honeymoon, if you're leaving
soon after the wedding.
Have
your nails done, preferably the day before.
Spend
time with your family members.
Relax
and rest well.
On
Your Wedding Day
Be
sure to eat something. You have a big, exciting day
ahead and many brides have been known to faint.
